A census renders every plate in the registry on one card, at a fixed size and a fixed number of passes, and takes the sha256 of the raw deposit bytes — not of a picture, of the counts themselves. Two cards returning the same hash have made the same photograph, bit for bit. Not a similar one, not one within a tolerance: the same bits.

That is the whole claim this practice makes that you should not have to take on trust, so the working is here rather than only the conclusion.

Two cards from one vendor share a compiler, and are expected to agree. Two Mesa drivers — radeonsi for AMD, iris for Intel — are two different compilers under one project, and are not. This is the question worth asking first, because if a compiler disagrees with itself, a great deal else needs re-reading.
